House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan formally notified the White House
they must preserve documents and evidence ahead of a congressional investigation into a
potentially-illegal scheme to have the FBI label and investigate parents as “domestic terrorists”
for criticizing “woke” local school board policies.
Jordan sent preservation notices to White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Education Secretary
Miguel Cardona, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, as Committee
Republicans probe the Biden administration’s use of federal law enforcement and
counterterrorism resources to suppress citizen criticism.
“We are investigating the Biden Administration’s misuse of federal criminal and
counterterrorism resources to target concerned parents at school board meetings,” reads Jordan’s letters to all three officials.
“We know from publicly available information that employees of the Executive Office of the
President were involved in discussions surrounding the National School Boards Association’s
(NSBA) September 29, 2021, letter to President Biden and the letter’s specific request that the
Biden Administration use the Patriot Act to target parents,” Jordan’s letter to Klain points out.
“We also know that President Biden called the NSBA head to tell her he was ‘appreciative’ of
the letter and to invite her to the Oval Office. The American people, however, deserve much
more accountability and transparency about the Biden Administration’s anti-parent directives,”
Jordan adds.
Some have argued that the Biden’s administration’s misuse of federal resources to target parents may be illegal, with some arguing it constitutes “official oppression” under federal law.
Soon after the Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo declaring parents
possible “domestic terrorists” for criticizing local school boards, at least one parent reports being
interrogated by FBI agents after declaring she would run for office against a “woke” local school
board member.
A Missouri mother and police officer was also reported to the FBI as a “terrorist” for informing
school board members they could not block public comments from critical parents.
