A professor at Shawnee State University who refused to use the ‘preferred pronouns’ of a biological male has now been awarded $400,000 dollars from the school.

As The Daily Caller reports:

A Shawnee State University professor who refused to use the preferred pronouns of a biologically male student won $400,000 from the university.

Philosophy professor Nicholas Meriwether settled with the university after filing a lawsuit in November 2018 alleging that the school violated his religious freedom and First Amendment rights, according to a press release from the professor’s legal representative, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). ADF filed a voluntary dismissal of the case on April 14 in light of the settlement agreement.

Meriwether can choose when to use or avoid titles and pronouns when addressing students, per the university’s settlement.

Meriweather, who taught at the school since 1996, always referred to his students using “sir,” “ma’am,” “mister,” or “miss,” according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. A biological male student approached the professor after class in Jan. 2018 requesting that he use female pronouns and titles to address the male student.

After the student filed a complaint against him Meriweather filed a lawsuit with U.S. district court against the school’s trustees for attempting to force his speech.

  1. We need more lawsuits against woke universities, woke corporations, woke media, woke individuals….. there’s money to be made by suing them….all of them.
If only we could sue politicians and judges and parole boards!!!!

  2. I don’t have to give up my rights for the few that want to take them. Your rights end at the tip of your nose and keep your nose out of my rights! Call yourself whatever, but don’t demand of me!

  3. There are no real heart hitting problems and personal issues in a great number of peoples lives these days. Too much to consider and literally to play around with, like freedom and critical thinking and the consequences of their choices. Money always talks in situation like this.

  4. I would think the first thing that would come to mind is to state that you own whatever you say, and as property, it cannot be taken or changed by any other than you. Failing that, I would provide the complainer with a two-word Italian blessing, and add two comments more – – – -“Only the weakest can’t get over a difference of opinion – you’re not that weak, are you? You can’t possibly be that weak, can you?” or – -“You and your wokies are less than one percent of the population. One percent doesn’t get to make the rules. Or, “violating my free speech rights constitutes a federal crime. You want that on your record?”

  5. This is vet good. The offbeats are entitled to their errors, but what is better is others cannot be forced to agree with them! Freedo0m is for all, not just the offbeat!
