New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s (D) mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic epitomizes the adage “perception is reality.”
Under Cuomo’s watch, Empire State officials were reluctant to take proactive social distancing measures that could have saved thousands, and nursing homes were forced to accept recovering but still likely COVID-positive residents back into their facilities.
That order even barred said facilities from testing to determine if residents returning from hospitalization still had the virus. So far, 6,500 coronavirus deaths have occurred in the state’s long-term care facilities. But that’s only the tip of the proverbial iceberg with 32,000 New Yorkers dead.
CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta took notice with an excoriating takedown of Cuomo amid his revisionist victory lap.
