Democrats in the House of Representatives finally managed to pass a bill that would grant the District of Columbia full statehood, which would include an additional two Senators.
The bill passed by a count of 216-208, in a party-line vote.
The vote came after hours of heated and venomous debate among House members.

The divided House Thursday passed legislation to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state and to grant its more than 700,000 residents full representation in Congress.
The strictly party-line vote in the House was 216 to 208, with all Republicans rejecting the statehood bill, dubbed H.R. 51. The legislation has support from President Biden but faces long odds of passing in the 50-50 split Senate.
Debate over statehood got particularly heated on the House floor Thursday when New York Democrat Rep. Mondaire Jones accused certain Republicans of being against D.C. statehood because the district was not White enough in their minds to qualify for self-rule.
“I have had enough of my colleagues’ racist insinuations that somehow that people of Washington, D.C., are incapable or even unworthy of our democracy,” Jones said in a floor speech that drew a quick rebuke from Republicans. “One Senate Republican said that D.C. wouldn’t be a ‘well-rounded, working-class state.’ I had no idea there were so many syllables in the word White.”

I am completely in favor of Washington DC getting Statehood………IF………if the Democrats agree, that all the illegals flooding the border, be moved to Washington DC, instead of being pawned off all over the country in States that had nothing to do with Biden’s Open Border policies…….I would just love to see, a few Hundred thousand ILLEGAL ALIENS housied in Parking garages, that apparently were good enough for our National Guard troops.That way our brilliant Democrats in the House, can see them every day on their way to work, assuming they actually bother to show up…..VOTE THEM ALL OUT IN 2022.

Washington shouldn’t be anything more than museums, embassies, government offices sand the national zoo. It was never intended to be residential. Narrow down the acreage and Maryland gets one side of the river and Virginia gets the other. If it does, Puerto Rico will probably be next to become a state and then the republicans can kiss off ever being the majority party in either the house or senate. In the census of 10 years ago Republican Legislature of Wisconsin gerrymandered districts in a power grab that has resulted in no Democrats taking control of either the Assembly or Senate for 10 years, the first time ever in Wisconsin history. Wisconsin voted for Biden, a Democratic governor, Attorney General, superintendent of schools all the higher-ups are Democrats.
