West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin may have just crushed President Joe Biden’s hopes of attempting to use Budget Reconciliation to pass his massive 2 trillion-dollar infrastructure bill, most of which is not actually infrastructure.
After criticizing the desire of many Democrats to eliminate the Senate filibuster, Manchin went on to say that he also opposes any attempts to use budget reconciliation to pass legislation, such as Biden’s proposed Infrastructure plan, without proper debate. Meaning that any such legislation would be vulnerable to filibuster attempts by Republicans.
As The Hill reports:
“We should all be alarmed at how the budget reconciliation process is being used by both parties to stifle debate around the major issues facing our country today,” Manchin wrote in an op-ed for The Washington Post.
“Senate Democrats must avoid the temptation to abandon our Republican colleagues on important national issues. Republicans, however, have a responsibility to stop saying no, and participate in finding real compromise with Democrats,” Manchin wrote.
White House chief of staff Ron Klain recently said that using the budget reconciliation process was on the table for President Biden’s infrastructure plan if Republicans refused to vote for it. The mechanism was used to pass the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief measure in March.
The use of budget reconciliation does not require the Senate to reach the 60-vote threshold.

They’re not ‘dreaming’ about our infrastructure, they’re waxing tyrannically to dismantle our nation and subordinate Americans to foreign leadership. Who would have thunk it! Well, Manchin is NOT from the coast, so that particular aberation may be his saving grace. Sometimes I think the Republic is lost, and then, at the nick of time, comes something or someone like Manchin. Hopefully, the 2022 election will take the load off Manchin’s shoulders, and brain dead Biden can be sidelined until 2024, when the possibility of a Trump second term becomes probable.

Manchin I’m daring you to do the right thing for Americans this is not about democrats or republicans you need to step past both parties, everyday working America will be affected by this infrastructure bill, meaning more and higher everything for the average American, ex: 1 loaf of bread in December $2.78 now that same loaf is $3.25, schools NOT opening but getting something like 100 Billion not to reopen, Biden is destroying the health and well being of these kid by Not opening the schools, why should my tax dollars go to some lazy teachers who is doing nothing to earn that money, if I can work 40 hrs a week, so can they! So I’m asking step away from both parties and just be a human being like the rest of us!
