Former President Donald Trump had an interview on “The Jenna Ellis Show” on Tuesday, where he discussed his 2024 Presidental ambitions, as well as a presumptive 2024 opponent, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump, once again, touted his role in DeSantis securing a victory in the primaries against fellow Republican Adam Putnam and then defeating Democrat Andrew Gillum in the general election in Florida in 2018.
Unlike in 2022, when DeSantis seemed certain from the start to win his re-election bid as Florida’s Governor, Andrew Gillum was a rising star in the Democratic party. That is, until a gay escort was busted in Gillum’s room with meth in 2020, and Gillum was indicted on campaign fraud charges in 2022.
When speaking on the 2024 primary race against presumptive opponent Gov. Ron DeSantis, former-President Donald Trump said:
“I never told DeSantis to stay out. He’s gotta do what he’s gotta do… I just let people know, because I believe in loyalty, that he was at like 3%, he was dead in politics, he was never going to be in office. He was getting ready to leave the race and he came over and asked whether or not it would be possible for me to endorse him.” Adding, “For whatever reason, I did endorse him.”
When asked about if DeSantis chooses to enter the 2024 Presidental election, Trump said:
“I call that disloyalty… He’s going to have to do what he’s going to have to do. But I’m a very big believer in loyalty. If somebody gets you in, be loyal to that person.”
Trump added that DeSantis “was way behind Putnam,” if it weren’t for his endorsement, Trump believes that DeSantis would’ve never climbed back from “a 30- or 40-point deficit.”
Trump added:
“He [DeSantis] would have dropped out very quickly… he ended up beating a guy [Andrew Gillum] he wasn’t supposed to beat because of me.”
Currently, according to Real Clear Politics, Trump is leading the race by +17 points against Gov. Ron DeSantis.

I voted for Trump but he needs to know when to keep his mouth shut. Quit running down your fellow republicans, RINO’s you can bad mouth.
Trump can’t stop talking about Ron DeSantis. The governor’s success keeps making the news and Donald feels threatened by it. DeSantis won by 20 points in 2022 not because of Mr. Trump,
The Donald keeps trying to claim credit. Okay fine Don, then please take credit for your educated endorsement of Mitt Romney as well.
Trump is delusenal…..Vote for Ron!!!
