AOC, the celebrity politician who made fame for herself and “the squad” is one to very often make outlandish claims. AOC’s newest claim is that America’s lack of a female President is evidence that too many people in the United States hate women, therefor they can’t win an election. New Yorkers weighed in on the allegation when Fox News decided to hit the streets and interview people in an attempt to see if Americans hate women as much as AOC claims they do.

“I look at her as a very strong personality and I think that she would be a strong contender for the presidency,” a New Yorker, Yugdeep, told Fox News. “It’s just really sad that she still thinks that. Like, it’s 2022.”

But, another New Yorker, Mary, disagreed.

“I see her point,” Mary said. “I feel like as much progress as we’ve made in the country, we’re still lacking in that regard. And women are still treated as if they’re secondary to men.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s name has been repeatedly floated as a potential Democratic candidate in the 2024 presidential election, particularly if President Biden doesn’t run for reelection. During an interview with GQ, the New York Democrat said she holds two contradictory thoughts about whether she could become president.

“One is just the relentless belief that anything is possible,” the Ocasio-Cortez told GQ. “But at the same time, my experience here has given me a front-row seat to how deeply and unconsciously, as well as consciously, so many people in this country hate women. And they hate women of color. People ask me questions about the future. And realistically, I can’t even tell you if I’m going to be alive in September. And that weighs very heavily on me.”

Not only does America hate women, but the same country that made AOC a household name, magazine cover, and celebrity also ‘hates women of color’. AOC has a fan base similar to a pop star, and the clout she carries somehow doesn’t translate into the sociology lessons that she intends to teach us. Not only is AOC unsure if she’ll be running for President in 2024, but, as she implies, due to being a woman of color she isn’t sure if she’ll even ‘be alive’ in 2024. The same politician who ‘attended’ a pro-Roe v Wade rally, just to pretend to get arrested moments into her attendance loves the spotlight and attention that her dramatic and outlandish actions or statements can create for her.

  1. Neither presidents nor any other political representatives should ever be considered for office based on their ethnic background or their gender (still only two). To do so is to be racist and/or sexist. We must elect political representatives based on their merits, nothing more.
