Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe admitted what conservatives knew all along in a video conference with the Norfolk City Democratic Committee.
The Biden surrogate admitted on tape that the more the presumptive Democratic nominee stay “in the basement,” the better.

Fox News obtained a video Tuesday of McAuliffe making the admission during a conference with the “monthly breakfast” of the Norfolk City Democratic Committee. The Biden surrogate made the comments after the former vice president was criticized for suggesting in a May 27 interview that black people who support President Donald Trump “ain’t black.”
“People say all the time, ‘Oh, we got to get the vice president out of the basement,'” McAuliffe said during the conference. “He’s fine in the basement. Two people see him a day — his two body people. That’s it. Let Trump keep doing what Trump’s doing.”

“It’s hard for the vice president to break through,” he said during the conference of Biden. “You’ve got the COVID crisis. He’s not a governor, doesn’t have the National Guard. He’s not the president, doesn’t have the briefing room.”
While McAuliffe didn’t explicitly mention Biden’s frequent gaffes, his preference for continuing Biden’s strategic appearances strongly alluded to them.
McAuliffe was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign co-chairman during her unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid. Clinton famously neglected to visit battleground state Wisconsin during her failed 2016 presidential election bid, a move many Democratic strategists say might have cost her the election.
