From the beginning of the hodgepodge implementation of statewide lockdown orders, elected officials have told their constituents to wear masks, self-quarantine, and even stay at home except in case of emergencies.
Inevitably, hypocrites have revealed themselves during the pandemic, most notably in the cases of politicians not practicing what they preach. Here are the most egregious examples.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) has imposed some of the strictest restrictions nationwide to quell the coronavirus’ spread.
Yet that didn’t stop her husband from reportedly attempting to violate her emergency decrees.
Whitmer recently announced the easing of some restrictions in Northern Michigan. However, she told people living in the more populated southern portion of the state to avoid the North’s tourist destinations.
That didn’t stop Whitmer’s husband from calling up a dock construction company near Traverse City to request they put his powerboat in the water in time for Memorial Day weekend. When an employee politely rebuffed him, Michigan’s First Gentleman allegedly said, “I am the husband to the governor, will this make a difference?”
Virginia’s Democratic Governor Ralph Northam faced criticism for strolling nonchalantly down Virginia Beach’s famous boardwalk without wearing a mask — after repeatedly urging his state’s residents to do so.

It wasn’t as if he was on a remote hike, enjoying nature’s splendor in solitude. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported that Northam interacted with beachgoers in violation of social distancing guidelines.
“Wearing a mask could literally save someone else’s life,” Northam said days before bystanders photographed him standing shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is using Illinois construction workers to work on his Wisconsin horse farm, all while telling his state’s residents to stay home.
Hypocrisy isn’t something new to Pritzker. Last month, he became hostile when a reporter asked him about rumors that his wife and daughter left Illinois for the family’s other equestrian farm in Florida.
“My official duties have nothing to do with my family. So, I’m not going to answer that question. It’s inappropriate and I find it reprehensible.”
Pritzker eventually admitted that his family left the state capital but claimed they did so before his non-essential travel ban.
Now, according to Fox 32 Chicago, Pritzker has Illinois construction workers traveling out of state to work on his Wisconsin farm in violation of his explicit orders.
New Mexico Governor Lujan Grisham (D) is disputing news stories that she had a “non-essential” store reopen to buy jewelry.
Albuquerque affiliate KRQE reports:
In early April, Gov. Lujan Grisham stressed that New Mexicans needed to stay home and should only go out for essential items such as food. She also announced that all non-essential businesses were closed. “We are in really tough financial times as a state. It mirrors the incredible, personal sacrifices that happen every single day because people have limited their ability to work, telecommuting and many people, in fact, have lost their jobs,” said Gov. Lujan Grisham on April 3rd.
However, just days after the April 3rd news conference and a week before Easter, KRQE News 13 has learned that Gov. Lujan Grisham called an employee at Lilly Barrack on Paseo to buy expensive jewelry. The jewelry was bought over the phone, but the employee went to the store, got the jewelry and placed it outside the door of the store where someone who knew the governor picked it up. This is according to the person who runs Lilly Barrack stores. She says she didn’t know about it until after it happened. She also said no one was allowed in the stores at that time due to the public health order.
The governor refused an on-camera interview but has a different version of the story. In an email from a governor spokesman, he says that “Lujan Grisham did call an employee, saying they had a longstanding personal relationship. The employee came here [Lilly Barrack], got the jewelry and took it home, left it outside their home and then someone came and picked it up.”
The governor’s office first said it was a campaign staffer, then later told KRQE it was the governor’s friend, but wouldn’t release a name. They also said the transaction was entirely contact-less, remote and permissible.

Seig Heil Whitmer needs to direct her husband to stand in a dark corner for a week for being stupid. Actually he is getting most of the press for the Memorial Day weekend but we known your car was also at the lake. You and R. Northam. Neither of you have enough sense to get out of the rain. So this explains your idiotic DICTATOR complexes but not why the voters in Michigan and Virginia votdd for either of you. Sort of understand Virginia because of the huge number of government parasite feather merchants in NORTH Virginia.
