As widespread parent opposition to mask mandates and Critical Race Theory threatened to defeat Democrats in Virginia and New Jersey elections, Biden White House officials coordinated with a national school board group on a plan to suppress dissent by classifying critics as terrorists.
In September of 2021, the National School Board Association drew nationwide criticism over a letter asking the Biden White House to consider parent protests as “terrorism” and deploy FBI agents to investigate critics.
Among those identified as possible “terrorists” were a Virginia who criticized school board members for covering up his daughter’s rape and parents who were organizing efforts to defeat school board members in elections.
Attorney General Merrick Garland testified under oath to Congress the White House and Justice Department did not act on the outrageous request.
But not only did the Justice Department act on the letter, an internal investigation by new NSBA leadership finds the White House knew about the letter a week before its release, and was asked to use it to coordinate efforts to suppress critics.
“Chip Slaven, the now former CEO of NSBA, provided the White House a preview of the letter on Sept. 21, a week before its release,” the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross tweeted.

An internal investigation reveals on Sept. 14 Slaven spoke by phone with White House Senior Advisor to the President Mary C. Wall, who “had advanced knowledge of the planned Letter and its specific contents and interacted with Mr. Slaven regarding the Letter during its drafting.”
“Ms. Wall requested an advanced copy of the Letter to provide to her White House and Department of Justice colleagues ‘to see if there might be any options we can pursue here,’” the investigation found.
In addition to coordinating on the creation of the letter, Attorney General Merrick Garland previously testified under oath the Justice Department took no action on the letter, but that appears to have been false.
“In less than a week, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memorandum to federal law enforcement officials directing federal agencies to act consistent with relief requested in the Letter,” the report says.
“The day after Garland’s issuing of the memorandum, Biden himself called (NSBA Board of Directors President Violet) Garcia in a ‘fifteen-minute one-on-one phone call’ and ‘thanked her for letting him know what was happening at the local level and for Dr. Garcia discussing the letter on television,’ the investigation found.
After coordination between the NSBA and the White House, FBI agents interrogated at least one mother mentioned in the letter.
“Garcia was apparently reluctant to speak with NSBA investigators about the Biden call ‘because of the perception that the NSBA was ‘in cahoots essentially with the Biden Administration on this Letter,’” Fox News reports.
“This report confirms that the Biden administration colluded with members of the NSBA to abuse the counterterrorism authorities of the federal government and investigate America’s parents,” reads a joint statement from House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Judiciary ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Oversight and Reform ranking member Rep. James Comer (R-KY), and Education and Labor ranking member Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC.)
“This entire episode remains an insult to parents. … Those who coordinated these unprecedented attacks on our families must be held accountable,” the statement reads.
