Et tu, Brute?
This immortal saying allegedly uttered by a mortally wounded Julius Caesar translates to “You as well, Brutus?”
Over 2,000 years later, the story of Marcus Brutus is universally known and his role orchestrating the assassination of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar is a textbook example of betrayal, even if armchair historians debate whether or not Brutus was justified to this day.
Complicating matters, Brutus was a close friend, a staunch ally, and possibly the illegitimate son of Caesar, but in the end, he led a conspiracy that changed the world forever.
