The 13 U.S. Service Members Killed In Kabul, Learn Their Names

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, 20, of St. Charles, Missouri

Schmitz was on his first deployment in Jordan, before being transferred to Kabul two weeks ago. His father is furious with U.S. leadership about his death.  

“Somebody just came along and took the easy way out and ended everything for him and for us — and for those others that were killed,” he said. “Be afraid of our leadership or lack thereof. Pray every day for the soldiers that are putting their lives at risk, doing what they love which is protecting all of us.”
