The Defense Department is planning to dispatch the United States Air Force Thunderbirds and the United States Navy Blue Angels to perform morale-boosting aerial demonstrations to “champion national unity” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Armed Forces’ leading flight demonstration squadrons are preparing for a multicity tour.

Per Mediaite:

The Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, the demonstration squadrons for the Navy and Air Force, will fly over some cities together and others separately, according to the memo. The flyovers will take place in the next several weeks “to thank first responders, essential personnel, and military service members as we collectively battle the spread of COVID-19″…

“This is just a sincere thank-you,” the senior military official said. “It’s one way to acknowledge those who are pitching in.”

The plan apparently still needs final approval, but the report notes the cost and how “the use of the jets to show resolve could anger those frustrated with the administration’s struggles to find enough protective equipment for medical personnel.” That anonymous official said the cost will “come from money already in the Pentagon budget.”

  1. Air shows over our cities could be the “The Pinch of Salt” that will make our recovery stew viable and outstanding as I’ve seen the shows and always returned with a great sense of pride in our military and our country.
Note: advertise the shows (time, date and best location to see well in advance).

  2. Great idea! A show of Patriotism and National Unity would be a good morale builder for the majority of Americans and help blot-out our country’s dividers.
