America’s largest newspaper publisher has reportedly banned the popular conservative-themed comic strip “Mallard Fillmore” over two cartoons criticizing President Joe Biden’s transgender policies.
“Bruce Tinsley, creator of the 27-year-old cartoon, said he was told this week by his syndication company that Gannett newspapers across the country simultaneously dropped the comic over two strips critical of President Biden and transgender participation in women’s sports,” reports The Washington Times, a conservative national newspaper which launched and still carries the strip.
“The first depicts Mr. Biden musing: ‘For too long, segregation sullied women’s sports … They were restricted to women! Thank goodness those dark days are over,’” the Times reports. “In the second cartoon, Mr. Biden says, ‘I hear what you, the American people, want me to do … kill fossil-fuel jobs … devalue Americans’ labor … and help more transgender athletes beat the *@!# out of biological females.’”
The Gannett Company owns USA Today and 26 of the nation’s 100 largest newspapers, including the Detroit Free Press, Arizona Republic, Indianapolis Star, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Nashville Tennessean and Cincinnati Enquirer, making it America’s largest newspaper publisher by circulation.
“Effective today, we’re making a change to our comics line-up to replace the ‘Mallard Fillmore’ comic strip. We’re continually reviewing the comics we provide,” read a notice published by Jackson, Mississippi’s Clarion-Ledger, one of many major newspapers to suddenly drop the strip.s
“Mallard Fillmore,” which depicts a duck reporter taking on the liberal media, is known for its overt conservative commentary and lampooning liberalism. First published by the Times beginning in 1992, it has been nationally syndicated by King Features since 1994.
While individual newspapers have canceled the strip over controversial content, it has never before been banned by a national publisher.
“I’m used to this phenomenon, I’m just not used to it coming from the corporate level,” Tinsley tells the Times. “I still don’t know how many. They said it had never happened before. it was all at once and it was a mandate from the corporation, not any individual editors’ decisions.”
The loss of a major newspaper is expected to greatly reduce Tinsley’s earnings.
“This is a huge hit.” Tinsley tells the Times.

I’m holding classes on the constitution, people are starting to want to get involved. We also need a Constitution of States, call or e-mail your legislatures & tell them the censorship has got to stop! That’s communism 101 – There has to be open & fair elections, no more mail in ballots without being able to verify who & where they came from! This Government has gotten way too big, it is no longer For, By and TO – We The People!!
There already is a formation of Convention of States for a Constitutional Convention if enough states join. Look up Convention of States to see if your state has signed on to this. Mine has a bill in committee right now…and I believe about 15 or 16 have already ratified. Term limits is one of the “amendments” that is high on the list of priorities. Encourage your state to join.

The Arizona Republic has been a liberal paper for a LONG time! I stopped reading it about 20 years ago. No great loss. But this is an attack on our first amendment rights.

There must be other sources. One good thing about all the censoring is it may force some people who have been sitting back letting big tech and big organizations do all the work……to reinvent the wheel (so to speak).
