Toobin rose to fame through his several books, most notably his account of the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Publishing heiress Patty Hearst had some harsh words for Toobin regarding a book he wrote about her. “I’m tired of being a cash cow for hack writers like Jeffrey Toobin. He’s an emotional rapist,” Hearst said. Hearst gained national attention in the 70s after the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapped her and brainwashed her into joining their group. Hearst said that neither she nor any of her friends had anything to do with Toobin’s book, which she refuses to read.
