“This changes neither my view of McCarthy, nor Trump, nor my vote.”
Rep. Matt Gaetz cast his vote for Rep. Jim Jordan, who has stated that he did not want to position of Speaker of the House. Rep. Jordan would go on to cast his vote for Rep. Kevin McCarthy.
Rep. McCarthy is now facing his fourth round of voting, and has been stalemated, finishing with 203 votes in the first two rounds of voting, and then down to 202 total votes in the third round of voting.
Former President Trump broke his silence Wednesday morning on the ongoing speaker election in the House. After three attempted votes Tuesday, the House was called to a close without a Speaker. Kevin McCarthy, the House Republican Leader from California, has remained the top Republican choice for the Speakership though he has faced some opposition as a few Republicans believe he isn’t the right candidate. In the first vote Tuesday, McCarthy received 203 votes, followed by 203 in the second vote, and 202 in the third vote. Not leaving much hope for Wednesday’s meeting.
In a Truth Social post, Trump broke his silence and discussed the Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, California. Trump mentioned how he would be the best choice – giving McCarthy his continued support. He mentioned that this would be an embarrassing defeat as Democrats remained united in giving all of their votes to Rep. Hakeem Jefferies, D-NY., in each of Tuesday’s three voting cycles. Though many Republicans in the House still seem to oppose McCarthy for the position.

To the Republicans who abstained from voting for Kevin: Shame on you! Stop playing cute games, when the Democrats show unity and what party loyalty is.
Very easy to explain how all the democrats unite behind their guy….they are all pieces of shit form the same pile. Some Republicans know that McCarthy is a piece of that same pile just painted red, and dont want him.

If Jordan refuses the seat only because he wants McCarthy to have it, what better off would republicans be? Throw Rand Paul in the mix.
I support President Trump to do the best job as President. He definitely needs to get more trustworthy advisors. President Trump is not God. Kevin McCarthy has been a back stabber when it serves to be. He puts his own best interest ahead of our Country and the citizens/legal immigrants. He’s left the Rules Committee vacant of Republicans for years! This allowed the omnibus Bill and so many other bad Bills to come from the Democrat Rules Committee , bloated requiring a a vote. No chance to read nor debate or even offer Ammendments. McCarthy is no better than McConnell.
During the multiple votes for election of the speaker,
Republicans demonstrated that dissent in democracy is acceptable and healthy debates will take place, while the Democrats demonstrated to their Masters in Beijing that each and every one of them know how to keep their mouth shut and toe the party line.
No wonder after 3-1/2 hours of being berated by Xi Jing Ping in Bali, Boden came back empty-handed vis-a-vis acceptance as a member of the CPP.
