Congressman Tom Emmer of Minnesota is continuing his incredible ‘Thank a Cop’ series by highlighting the work of local officers in the St. Cloud area.

In particular St. Cloud’s Community Outpost has hosted a wonderfully successful soccer camp in order to build bridges in the community in a unique way.

Over 120 children participated in the camp, which allowed officers to not only reach out and build relationships with them but with their siblings and family as well.

Plans are now being made to repeat the camp’s massive success in coming years.

As Knsiradio reports:

Sargent Ryan Sayer with the St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit says there are more camps in the works.

“I think it’s going to get bigger. This was a huge success. We had a ton of sponsors. I tell you what, the soccer community in this area is absolutely amazing. They’ve really come through for us.”

Sayer says holding the camp is about connecting with the community they serve.

“And just building those relationships is just so important. And if we can get these kids to have a positive experience with us as officers, that’s going to, down the road, that’s going to help us.”

Emmer himself expressed his utmost gratitude toward the heroism and hard work regularly displayed by officers like Sayers:

‘Thank you to Sgt. Sayer and all the officers, coaches, and community members who made this camp possible! We appreciate all you do to keep St. Cloud a safe and fun community for every member.’

  1. I always thank cops for showing up when they’re called. Sometimes it takes a while for them to appear, but considering the crime rates growing under our current regime, that delay is understandable.

    1. After they show up their hands are tied more than in the past. Dealing with accidents ect isn’t a problem. But criminals are being given a pass by many of our so called lawmakers

  2. I ALWAYS THANK THE WHOLE SEBRING POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR EXCELLENT WORK KEEPING SEBRING SAFE FOR US ALL

  3. This is a great idea. It makes the police a known entity and puts a face to the police officer. Someone the kids know and can trust.

  4. Great job to you who sponsored and for those of you that helped build up a community but unfortunately other communities are being taught to destroy instead of building up. We need more that will help the children build up their esteem to succeed. We also need to include God in these activities because without God we are nothing.
