Why aren’t children a top priority?
Although children are capable of coming down with the virus, they have a much smaller chance of developing severe cases. Additionally, children and adult’s immune systems respond differently to vaccines, so they have not been included in the initial trials. Moderna recently announced they will begin testing their vaccine on children between the ages of 12 to 17.
