The Act would establish a nationwide database on the use of police force, track “no-knock” warrants, restrict the use of chokeholds, and create government commissions to study correlations between race and policing.
However, Democratic senators’ decision today will force Republicans to decide whether to negotiate with their uncompromising colleagues or walk away as the public outcry, unrest, and riots continue.
Here are the so-called moderate Democrats who opposed the GOP’s calls for reason.
Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ)

Gary Peters (D-MI)

The Cook Political Report rates the race as “Lean D.”
Amy Klobuchar (D-MN)

However, her track record as a county attorney was one unabashedly in favor of law enforcement. Insiders considered her the favorite to be Joe Biden’s vice presidential pick until it we learned she refused to press charges against Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for killing a civilian — years before his involvement in the death of George Floyd.
Klobuchar has represented Minnesota since 2007. She is up for reelection in 2024.
Jon Tester (D-MT)

In 2018, he won by 3.5 points, but that year marked the first time Tester received a majority of the vote. He is up for reelection in 2024.

Maggie Hassan (D-NH)

You can bet the new laws that are passed to “Protect” the statues will be just like the laws we already have. Ignored. What I think the writers consider to be ‘moderate’ Democrats actually means these politicians are still on the edge of the playing field while their Democratic colleagues are so far out they aren’t even in the stadium.
