A longtime top aide for embattled Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo suddenly resigned on Sunday night as calls for Cuomo’s ouster in the wake of a massive sexual harassment scandal continue to grow.
As The Hill reports:
A top aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) resigned on Sunday night as he remains embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal that could cost him his governorship.
Melissa DeRosa, the secretary to the governor, said in a statement that “the past two years have been emotionally and mentally trying,” according to The New York Times.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve the people of New York for the past 10 years. New Yorkers’ resilience, strength, and optimism through the most difficult times has inspired me every day,” she added. “I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such talented and committed colleagues on behalf of our state.”
The statement makes no mention of the investigation launched by New York state Attorney General Letitia James (D) that found Cuomo had harassed 11 women, some of whom worked for him.
Democrats and Republicans in the state legislature are now reportedly seriously considering impeachment if Cuomo does not soon tender his resignation.

That resignation statement sounds like it was crafted around an expectation for a benefits package on the way out the door.

The Legislature of New York is going to have put a Billboard opposite Cuomo’s office window that reads:
“CUOMO: RESIGN NOW OR WE’LL DRAG YOU OUT BY YOUR HAIR!”
Cuomo is a DDD, Dirty Dense Democrat, and if you don’t make things plain as the nose 👃 on their face, they truly do Not GET IT! OR perhaps the Legislature can hire one of those women he got frisky with to kick his butt out the door and beyond?
