GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has now backed the challenger attempting to unseat the notorious anti-Trump congresswoman Liz Cheney.
As The Daily Wire reports:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is tossing his weight behind a challenger attempting to unseat Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).
Cheney was one of 10 House Republicans to vote in favor of impeaching former President Donald Trump following the events of January 6. Cheney also serves on the committee launched by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to examine January 6.
In comments made to The Federalist, McCarthy said that Harriet Hageman — who has received former President Donald Trump’s endorsement — will seek to represent residents of Wyoming.
“After spending time with Harriet, it is readily apparent she will always listen and prioritize the needs of her local communities and is focused on tackling our nation’s biggest problems,” McCarthy told the outlet. “I look forward to serving with Harriet for years to come.”
Trump has repeatedly blasted Cheney in the past, calling her ‘disloyal’ and ‘a warmonger.’
As a centrist, I always have admired the party discipline of the modern Republican party, in comparison with the big tent politics of the Democrats, which at times has sacrificed unity for diversity. Notwithstanding, if the Republican party begins to censure and cull membership simply because s/he/they have views that run counter to the base, then we threaten the range of opinions and vantage points that make our democracy great. The RNC has the capacity to sponsor primary challengers to Cheney; however, her constituents will make the final decision.
She has failed to hold the line where simple logic would prevail. Her bias and anti Trump (TDS) has clouded her judgement PERIOD! Voting for anything this anti-American agenda driven administration has done, is proof positive! The only thing I can RESPECT about the dim party is , they are UNIFIED!
I have tended to vote dem in the past. But I have no problem supporting Liz and donating to her re election campaign. Honesty & truth matter.
