Citing a series of poor decisions and an apparent decline in mental faculties, a North Carolina congressman has contacted Vice President Kamala Harris to begin the process of removing him from office under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
“Joe Biden’s physical inability to lead is not a political talking point – it’s a demonstrable fact,” Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) tells Fox News. “He is not mentally fit to serve as President of the United States.”
Cawthorn’s letter to Harris asks her to “find your courage” and “do nothing more and nothing less than your duty,” by having Biden’s Cabinet officials declare in writing he is not mentally fit to carry out the duties of his office, and is removed under the Constitution.
“When I look to our commander in Chief, I do not see someone who maliciously makes poor decisions. And yet, today we witnessed devastating, heartbreaking American carnage as a direct result of his inept and incompetent actions. Joe Biden does not simply have a pattern of poor decision making – his mental decline is on full display. Our enemies know it. Americans have witnessed it. His disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal proves even further: our executive is in crisis,” said Cawthorn.
Under the 25th Amendment the President of the United States can be removed from office if the President declares he is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” or if a majority of his Cabinet declares so.
It was ratified after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, who likely would have been incapacitated had he survived, and the 1919 stroke suffered by President Woodrow Wilson, leaving him bedridden and unable to fulfill his duties, leaving the presidency virtually in the hands of his wife.
