OPINION – As our desperate private effort – ‘PLAN B’ to save as many vetted, at-risk Afghans, and remaining Americans, from Taliban controlled Afghanistan continues, many ask me why I care so much Some assume I served in Afghanistan as a Marine officer or have some other direct connection.
The fact is I didn’t serve there, though many friends did, and have no direct connection to this country that America, and Americans spent 20 years trying to make a better place.
But I do care about these wonderful people very much. And this is why ‘PLAN B’ remains in action now, even after the fall of Kabul airport.
One because I’m an American and I believe America is better than its President, or its other leaders. America means something to me beyond politics. Americans can, and have always done, what the government shouldn’t do, or in this case, won’t.
I’m also a Marine and our motto is Semper Fidelis – ‘Always Faithful.’ We do not abandon or betray our own, and that includes faithful friends and allies. Period.
But maybe on the most personal level I care because my family has experienced U.S. government betrayal and escape from a repressive regime – in communist Cuba.
Heroic Cuban exile fighters trained and equipped by the CIA were abandoned and betrayed by Democrat President John F. Kennedy on the beaches of the Bay of Pigs in 1961, leaving the 1,500 brave men to die or be captured without their promised air support – even after they achieved all their military objectives.
My politically active parents, at very high risk of arrest and possible execution, finally escaped Castro’s Cuba on their own two years later and went to Mexico for some months before finally coming to the U.S. Their trauma was extremely raw when I was born soon after.
Once they arrived though, they received the warmest and most loving welcome from mainstream Americans, including individuals, charities and Christian churches who helped them resettle in this great country.
I joined the Marines after college to protect our freedom, but also our friends and allies, and to honor all those who helped my family.
Years later, when a Democrat-controlled Congress abandoned another faithful ally, the Republic of South Vietnam in 1975, my parents immediately rushed to help resettle wonderful Vietnamese refugees and ‘boat people’ escaping the brutal North Vietnamese communists.
Not long after, we witnessed another loyal ally, Iran, betrayed by another Democrat President Jimmy Carter in 1979, and scores of decent Iranians fleeing to American shores.
And now, we see it all over again. A 60-year pattern of Democrat administrations or Congresses, betraying and abandoning American allies.
This time by the heartless Biden-Harris team in Afghanistan.
I know exactly how and what these Afghans feel, and I vowed as a child never to let it happen again.
This is why our private volunteer effort to save our Afghans allies, and remaining Americans – ‘PLAN B’ will continue to help save as many as we can.

The Afghans are only a small part of this problem, what about England, France and Germany; they were there to help us get the people responsible for 9/11 and we just walked out on them as well. Cuban refuges and Afghan refuges will tend to vote Republican. Biden hates these people, as they threaten his party’s power. Like the Republican seniors sent back to spread COVID in rest homes, the Democrats want to see these potential Republican voters dead.
I dunno. Perhaps those ‘refugees’ are offered asylum in the U.S. in exchange for their democratic party votes. Americans should realize that said refugees made their nations into poverty pockets, rampant with crime, corruption and murderous drug cartels. They probably don’t know any better, and their presence within our borders could result in similar activities.
America doesn’t need allies. We need our borders secured, and a government that focuses upon our domestic issues: infrastructure, budgets, crime, homelessness and reaping our natural resources to forge energy independence. These Globalists sit in Washington chewing their nails about some camel hole, while our own people wallow on filth-strewn streets, or live in their cars and RVs. Our country should be a beacon of freedom and prosperity for others to emulate. Instead, we’re just cannon fodder for Globalists to deploy at their whim.
