Julia Pickett via Wikimedia CommonsThe Michigan governor was targeted by a paramilitary group, the Wolverine Watchmen, who were planning to abduct her from her personal vacation home in an attempt to overthrow the state government. The FBI infiltrated and surveilled the group for several months, waiting until the plot was finalized in early October to blow up a bridge leading to the lake house and kidnap Whitmer prior to the 2020 election. The FBI arrested 13 suspects in a sting operation on Oct. 7.
