Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio
Soviak was a high school wrestler and football player who had plans to be a career Navy man.
“His final words to his mother over FaceTime when he was telling her goodbye was after she told him to be safe, were, ‘Don’t worry mom, my guys got me. They won’t let anything happen to me,’” his family said in a statement. “Today she realized that they all just went together.”
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine ordered that flags be flown at half-staff in honor of the life and service of Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, who was killed Thursday while helping people evacuate from Kabul, Afghanistan. https://t.co/2YcWIxaL1n
