According to a new survey from Digital.com a shocking number of Americans now consider themselves ‘unlikely’ to buy from fellow Americans and companies who have contrary politics to them.

The troubling data shows the true extent of America’s ongoing polarization.

According to the survey a whopping 47 percent of those surveyed say they are unlikely to buy from those they disagree with politically.

As Data.com reports:

Digital.com surveyed 1,250 Americans ages 18 and older to gauge the influence of political and social issues on the purchasing process. Aside from the sentiments of the general population and political parties, our survey shows where demographics most diverge on each issue.

Overall, forty-seven percent of Americans say they are unlikely to patronize a business with opposing political views.

Given these attitudes, businesses must be mindful about the statements they make and how they might be perceived by current and potential customers, according to digital marketing executive Huy Nguyen.

“Companies need to consider if their core values and brand strategy match what they wish to communicate on political or social issues,” Nguyen says. “Consumers value authenticity and are quick to call out companies that may take a stand to appropriate a cause without having existing practices to support it.”

According to the data, women, baby boomers and independent voters are the groups least likely to buy from companies who disagree with them on politics:

A company’s political leanings are more likely to influence women than men. Fifty-three percent of women say they are unlikely to buy from a company with a different political view, compared to 38% of men.

Baby Boomers and Millennials may not have a lot in common, but they both like voting with their wallets.

Fifty-two percent of people 55 and older, and 48% of people ages 25-34 aren’t likely to buy from a company with a different political alignment.

By comparison, 46% of 35-44 year-olds, 44% of 45-54 year-olds, and 41% of 18-24 year-olds feel the same way.

Excluding Americans ages 55 and older, the main reason respondents gave for considering a company’s political and social stances is that they want their money to have an impact beyond their purchase. The plurality of Baby Boomers (34%) don’t want their money going to support candidates or causes they oppose.

  1. The VATICAN never gives in, never negotiates in good faith and never compromises. The VATICAN is a one way street. Look at every nation south of the US border and you will see the failure of the religion, the culture and the general welfare of the people. A third of this congress and senate are of the VATICAN mind. This will not end well for the USA. The USA is being sold out by a bunch of traitors. Do not elect any Catholic. Save the nation.

      1. This fellow “Alfie” is an anti-CHRISTIAN disguising him or her- self as an anti-Catholic. He has no love either for Orthodoxy or even Protestantism: the American Constitution is nothing short of an IDOL for him!!!!

BEWARE of that wretch and his blatantly-BIGOTED PROPAGANDA!!!!!

        1. he may be oversimplifying and generalizing, but you are personalizing and attacking the person – pretty much what the article is saying.

    1. The Pope and the Vatican are not The Church. The Catholic church has doctrines and Dogmas that are infallible. Don’t judge The church by CINO Pelosi and Biden. Wolves in sheep’s clothing.

  2. NO Big Tech IE Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn.
Otherwise MS, gun stocks, some defense, robotics, energy,

  3. I drank coke for 50 years and now I drink pepsi. I try hard not to buy from stupid companies but sometimes its impossible.

  4. Any company officials that are stupid enough to take political sides in lieu of trying to sell their product to everyone deserves what they get. I now exclusively drink Pepsi rather than Coke, mainly because of the Coke CEO, she is stupid!!

  5. All these “woke” companies that have to come out and spew their B.S. will never get my business again. So long Coke,Dick’s,Delta,Disney and many others_F.U. to them all.And one’s to add are any companies/States that require their employee’s/citizen’s to be vaxxed are “anti Constitution” and therefore crossed off my bucket list.

  6. The dimocrats and the intolerant and hateful left started all the hate and created such deepening divisions, and quite naturally normal people, ie those not of the left, will inevitably reciprocate. It’s pathetic, sad, and unnecessary, but the left are unwilling and incapable of being anything but abusive and nasty to their political opponents…and it seeps down from the very centre of their Washington swamp.

  7. And just what is the problem? Overall…at least according to your graphic…it would appear that there’s an almost equal split. How does that differ from the norms in terms of political views overall? It doesn’t. Geez, this is a non-story if it’s a story at all…of course we support and purchase from those with like values and political views…

    1. Actually, the article is interesting in the respect that the very vocal pronouncements of various woke companies now appear to be alienating almost half of the population. I will not attempt to speak for others but in the past, I never would have even considered the political position of a company with which I might do business. It certainly is not a good business model to create a situation where many customers that previously would have purchased products or services from these companies will no longer do so.

  8. Companies should not take political positions, or religious positions for that matter. Companies are formed to make profits for their shareholders and they can’t do that if they alienate more that half of their customer base.

  9. This survey puts it front and center why it is poor practice for a business to officially take political or social stand on anything controversial. Business is business and personal opinions should stay personal. Why chance alienating half of your customer base? You’re just trying to sell a product. It is one thing for a private business to do this but large corporations doing this are doing a disservice to their shareholders. I own a small business, have thought about it and decided I will accept business from anybody ignoring their political and/or social agenda and/or religious beliefs I disagree with. I welcome these customers unless they are adamant in pushing their agenda on me. Off business hours I am open to free debate. However my work does not involve my creatively either which I would refuse to give to promote agendas which I disagree.

  10. You can bet that after the last 21+ months where the REAL NAZI’s in the US have been so completely and obviously exposed, that now there are many millions of American Patriots out there fully intending to do everything they can to DESTROY any anti-American business that has taken part in these unconstitutional atrocities and crimes against humanity! For decades I/we have seen the democrat/socialist/Marxist scumbags doing everything they could to destroy America and The Constitution, so now it is long due for a purging of these criminals of humanity and their crimes against America, Americans, and humanity~!

  11. I was driving down the road and came upon a female with a flat tire. She was trying to flag for help. She had a biden sticker, so I just drove on. There is a price to be paid for voting for commuKratz.
Anyone that votes for a commuKrat is an enemy of America and it’s people. Wokacola is on that list too. When the green new deal finally gets approved, WokaCola will be out of business due to all the CO2 in their drinks. Beer products too. Anything with CO2 in it will be banned.
