Only months after Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón was sworn into office, critics of his progressive reforms of the criminal justice system have launched a recall effort.
Supporters of the “Recall George Gascón” effort held a news conference outside of the downtown Los Angeles district attorney’s office to express their frustration with Gascón’s anti-victim policies.
“You, George Gascón, have put criminals before victims. I truly believe you have confused your role as a district attorney and a public defender,” said Desiree Andrade a grieving mother of a murder victim. “This is not political. This is a fight for what’s right and what’s wrong. You don’t have to be a victim to understand the importance of this.”
Gascón was elected on promises to end “tough on crime” prosecution, reduce incarceration, and make law enforcement accountable for misconduct. In the few months since he has taken over the office, the new District Attorney. stopped seeking the death penalty, will no longer prosecute a range of misdemeanor crimes, and won’t send DAs to oppose parole hearings.
The new policies haven’t sat well with peers in the criminal justice system. Three weeks into his tenure, the Los Angeles County deputy DA’s union filed a lawsuit claiming that Gascón’s directive to drop sentencing enhancements defied state orders. Last month, 14 city councils issued votes of no confidence against him.
LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva kicked off signature gathering at the recall event, becoming one of the first three signers. In order to qualify for a recall election, organizers must collect 597,000 verified signatures by October 27th.
Gascón didn’t directly address the recall efforts but did offer testimonials of supporters in a statement. “Proponents of this right-wing recall are engaging in a deceptive and devious appeal to fear and emotion in their desperate effort to restore the harsh sentencing practices of the 1980s and 1990s,” commented April Verrett, president of Service Employees International Union Local 2015
“This recall is about upholding policies that have devastated black and brown communities for decades, policies that continue to perpetuate overcriminalization. Voters elected George Gascon to change these policies,” she concluded.
Made a mockery of the DAs office. Know your history and abide by the consequences. When do you let evil run rampet on the people???
Make the government officials liable for any convict who is released after going through the prison process. If prison doesn’t work, then don’t let these vermin out until it is fixed.
Higher penalties should be placed on officials, who release a person with no means of support, besides returning to crime. This is pure negligence and the victims should be able to sue the individual for damages, including pain and suffering from loss or injury to a loved one.

George Gascon is supported financially by George Soros, the Hungarian-born billionaire who opposes law and order in America. This is the same Soros who helped devalue the British pound, nearly destroying two of the largest banks in Britain. The same Soros received a scholarship for indigent immigrants from the British government to attend the London School of Economics and then, later in his career, bit the hand that fed him by betting against the British pound, causing it to plummet. Talk about ingratitude. And America welcomes him as a citizen, and he responds by turning Los Angeles and other American cities into petri dishes of crime by installing district attorneys who are hostile toward victims. The ungrateful and the wicked. I hope the recall succeeds.

More criminality by George Soros. Gascon is not the only DA criminal that has been supported for election by Soros. When are the American people going to rid this country of garbage like George Soros? Some foreign countries don’t even allow the bastard into their territory any more.

Soros should be charged with criminal activity in LA, in that he funded the election of a DA who he instructed to not enforce the law. Soros is a clear and present danger to the safety of the United States, and should be treated as such. He should be tried and imprisoned.
“Voters elected George Gascon to change these policies,”. Yes he was voted in to “soften” the prosecution of minor offenders. What he did, and is doing, is closer to calling “open season” on non-violent crime victims, and highly “softening” the deterrence to violent criminals.

Facts are facts. In the 50 years I have lived in LA County, I have never seen so much crime. I really don’t understand how anyone can stand to live in L.A. the way it is now. Same with NYC and Chicago. If the crazies can’t be voted out, I would think anyone with a brain and the means would leave.
