Louisiana

Louisiana has some of the nation’s “most comprehensive” laws protecting the health and safety of women seeking abortions and providing legal recognition and protection to the unborn. It also is one of few states to regulate emerging biotechnologies. The state prohibits embryo research and the creation of human-animal hybrids. It also has established an umbilical cord-blood banking program and allows for embryo adoption.

A resolution declared May 2020 was Louisiana Abortion Recovery Awareness Month, “so that women who have been harmed by abortion can come forth to receive the help and healing they need and others can be warned of the risks and pain of abortion.”
