Gavin Newsom, the Democrat Governor of California, signed a new bill into law on Tuesday that is set to cut $600 checks to low income Californians. At least this is what most of the headlines put forward by the mainstream media suggest.
Less reported on, however, is what else in the the bill: a massive handout to illegal immigrants in the state.
As The Hill reports:
California’s governor signed a bill into law Tuesday evening that will provide direct payments of $600 to many of the state’s lowest-income residents, including undocumented immigrants…
The plan provides direct income payments to state residents making $30,000 or less who claimed the California Earned Income Tax Credit last year, as well as state residents who have an individual taxpayer identification number instead of a Social Security number and make less than $75,000 per year. This latter group mostly includes undocumented immigrants who were ineligible for Congress’s two rounds of federal stimulus checks.
Notice that while the cut off for legal American citizens to receive the checks is a mere $30,000 a year he cutoff for illegals is a whopping $75,000 a year.
An extreme imbalance which makes it hard to come to any other conclusion than that Newsom and California Democrats simply favor illegal immigrants more than their own citizens.
