The violent terror attacks by leftist mobs against peaceful Trump supporters in D.C. this weekend clearly show that political violence — primarily from the left — has not ended with a possible Joe Biden presidential win. And, yes, as I have clearly said before, violently attacking innocent citizens for political motives is the textbook definition of terrorism.
In response to this chaos, one state governor is upping the ante and proposing an expansion of his state’s “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law to include protection against violent rioting, looting, and arson. As Hot Air notes, “Florida already allows citizens to resort to self-defense, up to and including lethal force, when they legitimately feel that their life or safety is in danger.”
That right includes defending themselves in their homes, vehicles, and on the street.
However, with this new proposal, described as “anti-mob legislation,” by NBC News, citizens could employ similar levels of force, including lethal force, if “looting, criminal mischief and arson” was observed that would cause the “interruption or impairment of a business operation.”
According to NBC News:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to amend the state’s “stand your ground” law in a proposal that would expand one of the broadest laws of its kind in the country, worrying critics who say it could empower people to use violence during chaotic and tense confrontations during protests.
The move is part of DeSantis’ “anti-mob” draft legislation, which would target people accused of illegal acts during riots and looting. DeSantis, a Republican, presented his aggressive agenda in response to the months of large-scale racial justice protests across the country, which at times flared into violent clashes.
Of course, Democrats view the governor’s attempt to apply law and order against criminal rioters as being racist and somehow increasing violence. NBC quotes state Sen. Randolph Bracy, a Democrat as saying, “His proposal will only fuel racial unrest and violence, not dampen it. DeSantis is treating the law as a playbook for his next election, which is reckless and irresponsible.”
But as Jazz Shaw notes in Hot Air:
Why would anyone say that cracking down on rioters would “fuel racial unrest” unless you’re assuming that the looters are entirely or at least primarily minorities? That’s a pretty racist assumption right there if you ask me. White people can loot too, you know.
While we should applaud Governor DeSantis for taking concrete steps to counter the increasingly violent, politically fueled chaos in Florida, his proposal does raise valid questions about how it would be implemented. Expect his proposal to be challenged in the courts.

This is just sad. Time to start growing up and realizing that riots and violence solves nothing. I’ve watched too many cities burn. It solves nothing. It hurts people and it again, IT SOLVES NOTHING. It just makes for more grief and a big mess. We need to LOVE our neighbor… NOT destroy his/her home and place of employment. THIS IS NOT RIGHTEOUS ANGER . . . this is just plain EVIL.

And sometimes the only way to get rid of that evil is to eradicate it, in the best means possible for each individual that has to face that evil !!
