The Supreme Court of the United States denied the Republican Party’s request to stop Rhode Island from accepting absentee ballots without witnesses or a notary to validate a voter’s signature.
The Court’s decision could exacerbate tensions between center-right Justices and the president’s conservative base.

Unlike “similar cases where a state defends its own law, here the state election officials support the challenged decree, and no state official has expressed opposition,” the order said. “Under these circumstances, the applicants lack a cognizable interest in the state’s ability to enforce its duly enacted laws.”

Rhode Island requires voters mailing their ballots to sign them in front of two witnesses or a notary. But Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo suspended that requirement for the June primary because of worries that it would expose voters to the virus.
But the legislature could not reach agreement on a bill that would extend that accommodation to elections in September and November. Groups including Common Cause sued, and state officials agreed in a consent decree not to enforce the witness requirement.
Republicans then sued, saying the state had a history of fraud involving mail-in voting, and that state officials must use the political, not judicial, process to make changes.
Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil Gorsuch said they would have granted the stay requested by the Republican National Committee and the Rhode Island Republican Party.

If you want to vote by mail vote like absentee voters, request a ballot and show proof of id to get the ballot.

Why would the Supreme Court be against checking and double checking to see that ballots cast are legitimate? It’s only common sense that we would all want a legitimate election, even the Supreme Court I would think.
Of course the dems are using the covid virus as the power control for their cheating in the election. The primaries were a dry run to see how the General election would work against Trump.
WELL if the primaries were any indication in CA it was a flop! Only drop ballot in certain places. Never did hear or see the results or who counted them. Had a email address to be sure yours was counted and the tallys. GUESS WHAT? OH MY some sorta glitch……………guess whom ever counted picked the winners.
