New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed her unvarnished socialist roots in a tweet Monday, celebrating the news that U.S. oil prices hit record lows.
The U.S. oil market dipped into negative territory for the first time Monday as the demand for gasoline continues to plummet while coronavirus-inspired lockdowns remain in place.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: “You absolutely love to see it. This along with record low interest rates means it’s the right time for a worker-led, mass investment in green infrastructure to save our planet. *cough*
Ocasio-Cortez wrote her statement while promoting a tweet that stated: “Oil prices now at ‘negative values,’ meaning oil producers have to pay people to take it off their hands and store it because when demand plunges (like now), that is less expensive for them than building more storage and/or shutting wells down.”

There was immediate backlash online as critics said that Ocasio-Cortez was “cheering” American job losses due to the pandemic.

An important fact regarding New York State’s energy usage is the fact that only 28 percent is renewable. And 22 percent is derived from hydropower facilities that include Niagra Falls Hydroelectric Power Plant. That leaves only six percent that is derived from other renewable energy, e.g., solar and wind.
Nationwide, only 11 percent of the nation’s energy is renewable. Perhaps Cortez believes democrats can ride energy bikes (bicycle-powered generators) to produce the missing 89 percent. Seems democrats missed these facts. Most would pay high admission fees to see them try.
