Police departments in 22 states are using drones donated by a Chinese company with ties to the government in Beijing to enforce social distancing measures during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The news has sparked concerns that America has accepted a trojan horse from its chief economic rival — one that has mastered the art of espionage. (Fox News)
Drones from Da Jiang Innovations (DJI) have gone to 43 law enforcement agencies in 22 states to help ensure social distancing rules. In New Jersey, for example, the Chinese-made drones are being used to spy on citizens where patrol cars can’t reach.

The company denies any ulterior motives, but others, including drone experts, lawmakers and watchdog groups, say it’s a slippery slope and that the bad outweighs the good in this case.
DJI is headquartered in China’s version of Silicon Valley. In less than a decade, it’s risen from a start-up based out of a dorm room at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology to become the world’s largest and most successful drone maker.
Under China’s communist capitalism, the companies profligate success mean it automatically falls under the government’s watchful eye.
DJI has pushed back on claims its drones are used to spy on Americans and said that users can prevent their devices from transmitting data back to the company or cut off connection to the Internet completely.
While that may be, an expert with deep ties to the intelligence community Fox News spoke to said that no one at DJI would even know if the data was being collected or used, except Wang and the Chinese government — and neither of them are talking.
Perhaps most telling is this: the intelligence community (IC) had sufficient concerns about DJI drones to ground them in the United States. Yet the confusion ignited and fueled by COVID-19 has enabled them to fly over America’s skies.

Remote controlled and video is blue tooth or some other video interface to smart phones like IPhone. China and United States have smart technology companies that can take the video from drone and upload to internet for purpose of access by various companies, govt., intelligence, military, police, etc.
A concern would be illegal intelligence/ surveillance, personal rights violations, etc.
More complex drones can record video, audio, GPS location, infrared imaging sensors and if military drones can carry non lethal and lethal weapons.
