On Wednesday morning more than 20 law enforcement recruits were injured while on a morning run in California. At least five of the recruits are in critical condition after a driver plowed into the runners. The recruits were rushed to the hospital after the incident. At the same time, authorities detained the suspect who is believed to have neem driving the vehicle that hit the recruits.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. PST. The recruits were from the Sheriff’s Training Academy and Regional Services (STARS) center in Whittier California, a suburb of Los Angeles, and were wearing high-visibility vests while running. The L.A. County Fire Department says that while five were critically injured, four more had moderate injuries, and another 14 had minor injuries.
