Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, trying to ram an unpopular carbon tax down the throats of residents, announced she has ordered State Police to arrest any Republican lawmaker resists holding the vote.
“I am prepared to use all resources and tools available to me as Governor to ensure that Oregonians are being served by their leaders,” Brown said in a statement announcing her plans to arrest opposing lawmakers. “I am in close communication with Oregon State Police and my office is making preparations for a special session.”
Legislators are outraged over Brown’s increasingly totalitarian agenda.
“She is only representing Portland and the environmental community, not rural Oregonians. Oregon is a dictatorship. Not by one person, but one party,” warned Senate Minority Leader Herman Baertschiger Jr., R-Grants Pass.
“If you don’t think these boots are for walking, you’re flat wrong, Mr. President,” warned State Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas. “And if you send the state police to get me, hell is coming to visit you personally.”
“I’m not going to be a political prisoner in the state of Oregon,” he warned.
The massive tax hike, intended to stop Oregonians from doing things that emit carbon, is expected to eliminate tens of thousands of jobs across the state and drive many residents into poverty.
The unpopular tax does not have enough support to be passed during the scheduled legislative session, leading Brown to demand legislators return for a special session to impose it.
With radical Democrats in control of the state House and Senate, some Republican lawmakers plan to boycott the vote.
Under Brown’s orders, any Republican who refuses to appear for the vote would be arrested and forcibly detained in the Capitol.
“Republicans walked out of the Senate earlier this session in protest of a school funding tax package, denying the chamber enough lawmakers to continue with a vote. The standoff lasted four days, until the governor struck a deal to table legislation on gun control and vaccine requirements,” The Washington Times reports.
Brown plans to impose the punishing taxes under threat of arrest, despite the fact it would implode the state’s economy while doing nothing to influence global temperature.
“Oregon accounts for less than two-tenths of one percent of global emissions,” Oregon Watchdog reports. “In other words, even if Oregon will to reduce carbon emissions to zero, the state would do virtually nothing to change worldwide carbon emissions, which means it would do virtually nothing to slow or stop global climate change.”
“An earlier version of the bill estimated the state would sell about $600 million a year of carbon permits, with the costs passed on the consumers and businesses. Other estimates say it would increase gas prices by 15 cents and utility prices by 11%,” the site reports.

I’m not from Oregon, so I don’t know the particulars, but this Gov sounds like a dictator. We all use the phrase “they’ve made their bed, now let them sleep in it;” however, sounds like the “little people” and anyone in their right mind had nothing to do with what she is trying to do, so I hate that they have to “sleep” in their beds, too.

The people who want “Vote By Mail” on a national level should look at Oregon….In the past Oregon had several Republican Governors and most often a balance between the two parties in the Legislature….After Oregon enacted the “Vote By Mail” the Republicans have lost every attempt to win the governorship and the only legislative seats they hold are primarily from the conservative counties in the east and south. Strange how that works.
