The city of Minneapolis is reportedly engaged in a new scheme to try and fire its White Teachers before other groups in the name of fighting racism.

As The Chalkboard Review reports:

A new contract between Minneapolis Public Schools and the local teachers union mandates that white teachers must be fired first when any kind of staff downsizing is initiated.

“Starting with the Spring 2023 Budget Tie-Out Cycle, if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population,” the agreement, which was originally obtained by Alpha News, says. Minority teachers “may be exempted from district-wide layoff[s] outside seniority order,” and will also be given priority during reinstatement.

In addition, teachers at 15 “racially isolated schools…with the greatest concentration of poverty” will also be protected from layoffs.

“Past discrimination by the District disproportionately impacted the hiring of underrepresented teachers in the District, as compared to the relevant labor market and the community, and resulted in a lack of diversity of teachers,” the agreement adds. The agreement is meant to rectify past instances of discrimination through more and different discrimination.

Critics of the new rule have declared that it is simply unconstitutional and, is itself, highly discriminatory.

  1. I sure as hell hope the white teachers sue. This is the very definition of discrimination. 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Plus it should be bases on merit not skin tone.

  2. This sounds like an excellent chance for someone to get rich from a lawsuit for having their civil rights violated.

    Isn’t the union supposed to represent ALL of its members?

    Instead of Ranking the Teachers on Merit, Competence and their Performance and laying off the least productive and effective teachers first!

    How absurd and illogical, not to mention unfair!

    We need to rid ourselves of Progressive Politicians, Bureaucrats, corrupt and incompetent Teacher’s Unions and Government Employee’s Unions that protect & encourage incompetence and Indoctrination of phony CRT, BLM, Gender Identity and failed Socialist / Communist Principles of the Progressive & WOKE movement.

  5. This will continue the downfall of our educational system in this country. It started with Carter and the cabinet position for education. Won’t be long before we become a third-rate country. The future doesn’t look good.

  6. The term “under-represented” means what ? By population, or positive contributions to the tax pool that supports those schools ?
