Elon Musk shot back at Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren after she attacked him during an interview with CNN for allegedly not paying his fair share in taxes.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) claimed during an interview last week that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk did not pay any money in taxes, which elicited a response from the world’s richest man.
Warren said during the CNN interview that “for example, Elon Musk, 2018, we’ve actually seen his tax returns.”

Media reports claim that Musk paid $0 in federal income taxes in 2018, but did pay $455 million in taxes between 2014 and 2018. Musk tweeted in late December that he would “pay over $11 billion in taxes this year.”
Musk then quickly took to Twitter to fire back against Warren’s accusations:

United States Code of Laws, Title 26, Section 6103 states the individual IRS Tax Returns are not subject to disclosure to individual citizens. There are exceptions to this rule involving legal aspects for an individual undergoing a criminal investigation, if a judge rules the criminally charged individual’s tax return is relevant to the case. An individual endowed with a Power-of Attorney for the individual whose return is in question has the right to information on that return, provided the individual whose tax information is needed is incapacitated and no longer able to make financial decisions. Then there are certain divorce proceedings involving spousal rights to all income, of both parties, where an attorney can request all financial transactions and IRS tax return figures to satisfy the court’s interest in legal divorce settlements.
Since Elizabeth Warren is not mentioned as divorcing Elon Musk, is not a prosecuting attorney seeking to convict Elon Musk in court, and Elizabeth Warren is not holding a Power-of-Attorney for Elon Musk, there is no way she has seen Elon Musk’s IRS tax returns: at least not legally.
