Most of America’s police unions endorsed President Donald Trump in 2020 election, and the ones who did not are finding out why as Joe Biden’s radical agenda wages war on law enforcement.
While Biden is widely disliked by police officers, he earned the support of some police union bosses for his past support of measures like the 1994 “crime bill” which shoveled taxpayer money into local law enforcement, back when the Democrat Party was controlled by its more centrist “Democratic Leadership Council.”
But as radical and sometimes violent socialists have seized control, that Joe Biden has shifted with the political winds, now backing “Defund The Police” radicals and staffing his administration with anti-police activists.
“It’s been worse than I thought, especially with what I know about Biden,” Paul DiGiacomo, president of the New York City Detectives’ Endowment Association, tells The Washington Times. DiGiacomo and the NYCSE backed Trump.
“Biden was once a very strong supporter of the police, but he doesn’t appear to be one anymore,” said DiGiacomo. “Honestly, I haven’t seen anything I can point to in a positive manner.”
Many of the police union bosses who backed Biden last year now realize they were duped.
“Charles P. Wilson, chairman of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, endorsed Mr. Biden personally because his organization is a nonprofit and cannot back political candidates,” the Times reports.
“Mr. Wilson acknowledged that the president’s lack of public praise for law enforcement is contributing to low morale at a time of record resignations and retirements from police forces,” the Times report.
“It’s an issue the administration should address. A lot of cops — because there is such a focus reform — think the administration point blank doesn’t care about them,” Wilson tells the Times.
Despite Biden’s public declarations he opposes “Defund The Police,” he has appointed at least three “Defund The Police” radicals to Justice Department positions.
Biden’s nominee to be U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Rachael Rollins, called for defunding police, as have Biden’s picks for two of the Justice Department’s top positions.
“The number two official at the Department of Justice and the head of the Civil Rights Division at Department of Justice. Both are among the leading advocates in the country for abolishing the police, both in writing repeatedly and emphatically advocated for abolishing the police last year. One year ago in writing they advocated abolishing the police,” said Sen. Ted Cruz.
“Now, every Democratic member of this committee maintains, ‘Oh, no, no, no, no, I don’t support abolishing the police.’ At the same time, every single Democrat in the United States Senate voted to confirm not one but two senior officials at the U.S. Department of Justice who are among the leading advocates of abolishing the police. And now we get a third time,” said Cruz.
