With liberal Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance nearing the end of his investigation into former President Donald Trump, law enforcement and elected officials in two states are preparing for the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued for Trump.
With Trump preparing to leave Palm Beach, Florida to spend the summer at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, officials in both states are making contingency plans should New York prosecutors make a politically explosive demand for the arrest of the former president.
Vance is investigating Trump’s financial dealings, including allegations Trump falsely inflated the value of his properties when applying for bank loans.
A key factor would be in which state Trump would be extradited from if an arrest warrant is issued.
Should Trump be indicted while in Florida, it could set into motion a high-stakes standoff.
“An obscure clause in Florida’s statute on interstate extradition gives Gov. Ron DeSantis the ability to intervene and even investigate whether an indicted ‘person ought to be surrendered’ to law enforcement officials from another state — which means that as Mar-a-Lago prepares to close down for the season and Trump relocates to Bedminster, N.J., it isn’t just the Florida heat he’s leaving behind: He could lose a key piece of political protection,” POLITICO reports.
Adding intrigue is the fact an attempt to extradite Trump from Florida the case could end up before Joe Abruzzo, clerk of the Circuit Court of Palm Beach County.
Abruzzo is a personal friend of the Biden family.
Abruzzo tells POLITICO “that despite his friendship with the Biden family, ‘the full extent of the law will be followed and carried out appropriately, without bias.’”
Should any arrest warrant be issued while Trump is in New Jersey, he is in a tougher position. POLITICO notes New Jersey law on the matter is similar to Florida’s, but Democrat Governor Phil Murphy would be more than willing to order New Jersey police to arrest and extradite Trump.
There is no timeline for Vance to end his investigation of Trump. But Vance plans to retire at the end of 2021 and may wrap up the case before ending his term.

What a crock! As a real estate broker for 35 years, if every property owner who over-valued their property was guilty of financial dealings, nine out of every ten would be in jail. It’s the banks job to hire independent appraisers to value property before they loan money on those properties. And Cy Vance is a Deep Stater just like his father was before him.
