Just weeks after a police brutality case in Minneapolis ended the vice-presidential aspirations of Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, a police shooting of a black man in Atlanta may have taken another hopeful out of consideration.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms was an early Biden supporter and stumped for him across the country as his campaign faltered early. But she jumped onto the media’s list of potential Democratic vice-presidential nominees over her early handling of the city’s reaction to the killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
That may have gone up in flames as her own residents began rioting after the killing of a black man last week by Atlanta police. Rioters began massing in Atlanta streets after Rayshard Brooks grabbed a police officer’s taser and fired it at officers who attempted to arrest him for drunk driving. The Wendy’s restaurant where the shooting occurred was set on fire by a white protester.
Bottoms spoke out against police violence and appeared to be exactly what Democrats needed – someone who backed the police while also appearing to understand the protesters.
That’s now in jeopardy as her own police force are now accused of brutality themselves.
“I do not believe that this was a justified use of deadly force and have called for the immediate termination of the officer,” Bottoms said when announcing the resignation of Atlanta’s police chief over the matter. Bottoms also called for the firing of the accused officer, who was, in fact, fired for the incident.
But activists could question why Bottoms hadn’t acted earlier to institute the very changes in her own department that she called for in speeches after Floyd’s killing.
Bottoms’ controversy comes just weeks after it was revealed Klobuchar, once a vice-presidential front-runner, refused to charge the police officer accused of killing Floyd when she was a county prosecutor and he was accused of illegal brutality. Klobuchar already had a testy relationship with black activists over her perceived harshness against black defendants.

Not for very much longer. They are pulling all of the Aunt Jemima syrup and Uncle Ben’s rice products off of the shelf because the name(s) and logos affected one of the snowflakes (probably one of the same snowflakes burning and looting our major cities in the name of George Floyd and a paycheck from the soros group) Erasing (or trying to erase) the history of the USA will not be enough for these professional protesters and rioters; only the total overthrow of a duly-elected conservative president will do. Will someone please inform the American people that one of Biden’s picks for vice-president, Kamala Harris, is NOT constitutionally eligible to hold the office of vice-president because she is NOT a natural born citizen. She is a citizen because she was born in California, but she is NOT a natural born citizen because her parents did NOT become U.S. citizens until Kamala was 5 years old. I have sent emails and messages to Sean Hannity and Judge Pirro, asking them why they and the rest of the show hosts on Fox never mention this fact when ever they report that Kamala is on Biden’s short list for V.P., but they have refused to respond. They are trying to pull another Obama on the American people.

Now contrary to your post, anyone born on the lands belonging or under control of the USA is a Natural Born Citizen, this has been settled in the 1800 by the SCOTUS, now who is a Natural Born citizen according to the Constitution of this USA. I do think Harvard law school points it out quite well.

No one knows the right thing to say or do because racism, while it exists, is not behind the shootings, the protests, or the riots. Truthful and honest attempts to solve the problems will look at criminality, poor policing practices by a small subset of police officers, mistrust of police pushed by activists and political posturing.
To me, racism is perceived! I thinks it exists in a minority of people today. The vast majority of people believe there is no difference between, black white or brown. The media is to blame for all of this and the scars will be theirs to wear. They can try to blame it on President Trump all they want but it just does not pass muster.

What happened to Brooks was a justified shooting. It’s only about white and black to people who make it so. What isn’t shown or told in the media are the 40 minutes the 2 officers spent talking him out of his car prior to the altercation HE started when they went to cuff him, that the officer who shot him received a concussion in that altercation or that after he shot him he immediately ran over and did CPR on him until the ambulance arrived. The man resisted arrest, assaulted 2 police officers, stole a taser and discharged it at them. Slow motion video showed while his lower body was turned away from them he turned his upper body and fired the taser and turned his torso back as the officer returned fire so that when the bullets hit him..they hit in his back. You can see it in the other videos as well if you pay attention. You can hear the pop and see the flash as the taser discharged. If Brooks had been white he’d still be dead but the story barely a blip on the radar. The true racists are those making it about race and vilifying an officer who followed Georgia law procedure and those placing a murder charge on him to placate protesters. Bottoms is just living up to her name. A bottom feeder.
