Currently, a 60-vote threshold is typically needed in Congress’s upper chamber to end debate. While Biden served as vice president, he opposed axing the filibuster for obvious reasons. Now he’s openly changing his tune provided the political tailwinds on Election Day favor Democrats.
Should Democrats run the table in November and a President Biden decide those darn Republicans are too obstructionist, he’ll give Chuck Schumer the green light to pass legislation with a simple majority.
Here are five policies on the far-left’s wish list, that Senate Democrats would be able to ram through with Republicans powerless to stop them.

Gun Control
Democrat support for supposedly commonsense gun safety reform has risen dramatically after the far-left co-opted the party and purged it of culturally conservative voices.
While priorities vary within their caucus, House Democrats have already displayed an insatiable appetite to utilize the government’s power to erode our inalienable right to bear arms. After regaining control of the House of Representatives in November 2018, Democrats went so far as to establish a task force on gun violence, led by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA).
If the White House and the Senate fall, these proposals are sure to be rammed down the American people’s throats:
- Expanding background checks on firearms
- Lengthening the maximum waiting period
- Banning so-called assault weapons
- Banning so-called high-capacity magazines
- Requiring buyers to obtain a license before they can purchase ANY firearm.
And the list goes on.
Amnesty
U.S. Customs and Border Protection via Wikimedia CommonsBiden often touts his “roadmap” to citizenship for the roughly 12 million illegal immigrants currently living in the United States.
While GOP opposition to “comprehensive immigration reform” under the Obama administration stopped Democrat hopes of redrawing the electoral map for a generation, such a plan would easily pass a Democratic-controlled Senate that just discarded the filibuster.
Taxpayer-Funded Abortions
อธิษฐ์ พิชัยรัตน์ via Wikimedia CommonsBiden’s more moderate views have been cast aside in his advancing age. Either that or younger leftists have manipulated him into disavowing prior moderate stances, including his support for the Hyde amendment, which bans most federal funding of abortion.
Although Democrats frequently campaign against the Hyde amendment, they have not made a serious attempt to repeal it since 1993. Twenty-seven years later, with pro-life views practically extinct within the party, repeal would be easier than ever without the Senate filibuster. Under a Biden administration, the United States of America may even have Medicaid-funded abortions for the first time since 1976.
Tax Increases
Although the reconciliation process already allows most fiscally-related legislation to skirt the filibuster, the minority party has the power to occasionally block the majority’s legislative agenda, provided it doesn’t have supermajority status; i.e., more than 60 out of 100 seats.
During the Obama years, that hard reality prevented Senate Democrats from repealing the Bush tax cuts. However, Democrats could swiftly undo the Trump tax cuts without the filibuster.
Court-Packing
Progressive activists see this strategy as the most direct route to regaining control of the Judicial Branch. While long derided by the Democratic Party’s establishment-wing, President Trump’s unprecedented success at remolding the judiciary has caused them to think twice about expanding the Supreme Court’s size.
Forget the hiccups that Gorsuch dealt with or the trial that Kavanaugh endured. In a post-filibuster Senate, a Democrat majority could approve far-left Supreme Court Justice’s so fast Mitch McConnell would be astonished.
Biden still, ostensibly, opposes court-packing. But, we’ve seen his “resolve” crumble before.

Why don’t Republicans try to add more Supreme Court justices now? Democrats would have to go on record to block it. But then their positions would flip if they ever got the Presidency and Senate control.
The U.S.Constitution and Bill of Rights are the backbone of our justice system set up in 1776. It calls for nine Supreme Court Justices. Once they go through the vetting process in both houses, the Senate and Congress, then the President can sign yeah or nay, on the person vetted by both houses. Once they are on the bench, it’s a lifetime appointment. The justice can retire or if they become ill or incoherent verified by multiple medical professionals by removed for cause. Neither party can just add or remove any justice at will.
I totally agree, we can’t have the democrats pack the court with their viewpoints of the law. Look at all the democrats being prosecuted for unethical actions.
everything te DEMOCROOKS do is detrimental to America, that’s what they’re working for. the democrooks need to be removed from government offices, because not doing so “WILL” cause the next (un) civil war, effectively destroying our country.
