An 82-year-old veteran, Herbert Parrish, saved his wife’s life in South Carolina after he heroically beat a home invader armed with a knife to death with the butt of a shotgun.
The intruder had forced his way into the couple’s home and then slashed Parrish’s wife with a large knife before the Vietnam veteran stepped in.

A South Carolina armed home invader who attacked a 79-year-old woman near her back door is dead after the victim’s 82-year-old Vietnam War veteran husband beat him down with the butt end of a shotgun earlier this week, according to local authorities.

Herbert Parrish snatched the firearm off a wall mount after the suspect, identified as 61-year-old Harold Runnels, broke into the home with a knife, knocked his wife to the ground and slashed her forehead Monday afternoon, Columbia, S.C.-based FOX 57 reported.
He lived in a nearby mobile home community, according to WJBF-TV, and approached by knocking on the back door and asking if the couple had seen a missing dog.

Runnels later died at a hospital due to injuries suffered in the scuffle, according to authorities.

Perfect example of why you never surrender your guns to the government, like the Biden Administration wants you to do. Being a Vietnam Veteran myself, I am very proud of the way Mr. Parrish protected his wife and his property. In this instance, using the shotgun like a ball bat, was sufficient and the intruder ended up the way he should have — DEAD. We hear daily about banning “Weapons of War, Assault Rifles, High capacity Magazines and so on. You hear how the Biden/Harris communist administration is “Going to take your AR-‘s, etc. etc. Why don’t we ever hear how the government is going to take the guns away from the criminals, the MS-13 , all of the Street Gangs. Why, because the government has no intention of trying to take guns from criminal organized crime or gangs. They want you to live in fear and have the government protect you. They want the government to protect you while they want to defund police agencies. The average response time for a call for police service is approximately 11-18 minutes. In a home invasion or aggravates assault on you or your family you don’t have 11 to 18 minutes. You have to act quickly like Mr. Parrish did. His home invader was 61 years old. I am a retired police lieutenant and most of the home invasions I am familiar with have much younger, and violently aggressive assailants. Keep your guns loaded and handy.
