Why the NRA Lawsuit Will Backfire on Democrats

New York Attorney General Letitia James is gunning to break-up the National Rifle Association.

James claims NRA executives broke state and federal laws, allegedly siphoning off millions to fund their lavish lifestyles.

Since the NRA is a non-profit, it is only allowed to use its funds to further its mission and member interests.

Never willing to cede ground, the NRA is fighting back against the charges. Even some observers on the left suspect James’ election-year lawsuit is a strategic blunder. Here are the reasons why:

It Overlooks Polling Trends

Polls in battleground states already indicate the presidential race is tightening in Trump’s favor. Before James’ anti-Second Amendment announcement, Biden’s advantage in the RealClearPolitics polling average had been slashed. Now, Pennsylvania Democrats are comparing James’ decision to the equivalent of the “Alabama AG suing to dissolve Planned Parenthood.”

Some Pennsylvania Democratic elected officials are panicked about the NRA lawsuit’s effect on the presidential race. One told me it was an “October surprise”: “This is the equivalent of Alabama AG suing to dissolve Planned Parenthood for the left.”

Ignores the Silent Majority

Gun sales have broken new records during the pandemic and ongoing riots. Americans have purchased three million more guns than usual since March. Half of them reportedly went to first-time owners.

Fox News’ Pete Hegseth recently explained the broader implications of these numbers for 2020:

This “is a front-and-center, kitchen table issue for a lot of people and the Second Amendment, Joe Biden wants to take it away, Donald Trump wants to preserve it,” he argued. “That’s one that he believes and a lot of people believe is a winner for him.”

Reminds Conservatives to Vote

The lawsuit is yet another salient reminder for center-right Americans to vote by offering a glimpse into the nightmarish vision of the future Democrats have planned if Trump loses.

Are guns not your issue? Perhaps President Trump’s personality occasionally rubs you the wrong way. Remember this; Democrats will never stop. Once they dissolve the NRA, they’ll come after pro-life groups, conservative media, and even religious organizations. 

This cold reality is why we fight. It is why we vote.

And Remember That Biden Is No Moderate

Joe Biden may have been moderate at one point, but no longer. His campaign didn’t file the lawsuit against the NRA, but it reminds tens of millions of voters of Biden’s Beto O’Rourke-esque “evolution” on gun rights.

Biden even handpicked O’Rourke to his spearhead his campaign’s firearm policy prescriptions. Yes, the very man who once shouted, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.”
