After months of isolated reporting, such as mine, that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) could have accidentally leaked from a Chinese biolab in Wuhan, U.S. intelligence has now acknowledged that this is indeed a possible cause. And the majority media that furiously stuck to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) official cover story, may finally be changing its tune on the issue.
The U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has produced a classified report, dated March 27, that now includes the possibility that the new coronavirus emerged “accidentally” due to “unsafe laboratory practices” in Wuhan, where the first outbreak began late last year, according to Newsweek.
The report, titled “China: Origins of COVID-19 Outbreak Remain Unknown,” reportedly ruled out that the disease was genetically engineered or released intentionally as a biological weapon. The assessment focuses only on an accidental release. However, a U.S. intelligence spokesperson told Newsweek, “the Intelligence Community (IC) has not collectively agreed on any one theory.”
Nevertheless, as the official Chinese “wet market” origin cover story crumbles, it is clear that U.S. intelligence is increasingly focused on the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory located at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) – which is near the animal markets in downtown Wuhan.
As I have noted previously, the bio-safety lab at the WIV – which became operational in 2018 – is China’s first lab rated BSL-4 — the highest level of international bio-research safety. The Wuhan lab is the first of between five and seven BSL-4 labs the CCP plans to build across the Chinese mainland by 2025.
Reports also indicate that its research work with bats had been conducted at the lower BSL-2 protection level. Additionally, there is a separate BSL-2 lab in Wuhan at the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to Newsweek, the bio-safety lab at WIV “houses the world’s largest collection of coronaviruses from wild bats, including at least one virus that bears a resemblance to SARS-CoV-2.” More significantly, WIV scientists have been engaged in so-called “gain of function” (GOF) research. GOF techniques have been used to turn viruses into human pathogens capable of causing a global pandemic. These experiments could be the source of the first bat-to-human transmission prior to an accidental leak.
Officials at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing also reportedly warned in a cable on January 19, 2018, that the Wuhan Institute has a record of shoddy practices that could lead to an accidental leak. “During interactions with scientists at the WIV laboratory, they noted the new lab has a serious shortage of appropriately trained technicians and investigators needed to safely operate this high-containment laboratory,” states the cable, according to the Washington Post.
Meanwhile, Newsweek admits that while most scientists believe that a natural origin is the most likely explanation – neither have they ruled out other possibilities. “At this stage, it is not possible to determine precisely the source of the virus which caused the COVID-19 pandemic,” says the World Health Organization in a statement to Newsweek.
The Newsweek story spends considerable time downplaying the new reality, but ultimately concludes that – as I have been saying for months – “The circumstantial evidence is strong enough to warrant putting the lab’s programs and practices at the heart of the investigation.”
As the investigations continue, an accidental release from a bio-safety lab in Wuhan, China may be increasingly seen as the likely origin of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Sorry, not good enough. I think China has, for years, been sending viruses around the world to sicken it. I, myself, have seen masked Orientals roaming cruise ships, handling merchandise and eating in restaurants on Mediterranean cruises. On closer examination, we saw that they also swamped the medical department which reveals that the cruise line knew of the many sick people aboard and were not equipped to deal with it. Result? My husband and I both came home sick with the flu. Cruise lines should quarantine sick passengers until they can be off loaded at nearest port.
There are more than on possibility as to the origin. But what evidence do have which one is correct? What we do know is that it originated in Wuhan China.

I had a mentor at bridge for almost a year. When my play became good enough he allowd me to play as his partner. As I learned from him over time, after a game’s conclusion I gradually began to point out to the opponents where they had misplayed.
