Salman Rushdie, the renowed author and voracious critic of radical Islam, was suddenly attacked on Friday by a knife wielding attacker while giving a speech at the Chautauqua Institute in Western New York.
Rushie has spent years in hiding due to threats against his life from the Iranian regime that were issued in response to his criticism of radical Islam.

Rushdie’s condition or the identity of his attacker is still not known at this time.
UPDATE: New York Governor Kathy Hochul has confirmed that Rushdie is alive and has been airlifted after suffering numerous stab wounds.
