Vice President Kamala Harris finally broke her silence regarding the Taliban’s swift takeover of Afghanistan upon the U.S. military’s withdrawal during an appearance with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Until now, VP Harris remained silent on the chaos to avoid being blamed after she boasted she was “the last person in the room” when Biden discussed plans to leave.

However, Harris still tip-toed around specific questions as to what went so wrong in Afghanistan and how the administration plans to remedy its latest crisis.

Fox News reports:

“So, I understand and appreciate why you asked the question. And I think there’s going to be plenty of time to analyze what has happened and what has taken place in the context of the withdrawal from Afghanistan,” the vice president said. “But right now, we are singularly focused on evacuating American citizens, Afghans who worked with us, and Afghans who are vulnerable, including women and children.”

Harris added that “we have a responsibility and we feel a deep commitment to making sure that folks who helped us are safe.”

Later on, Harris was again asked about the withdrawal from Afghanistan, specifically whether or not she agreed with the steps taken in making the decisions, even if the results were not what were planned. The vice president said that “there will be and should be a robust analysis of what has happened” but repeated that “right now, there is no question that our focus has to be on evacuating American citizens.”

However, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong pointed to mistakes by the United States as the reason why the withdrawal has gone so “awry.”

“Countries make calculations and take positions, and they have to make recalculations and adjust their positions from time to time,” Lee continued. “Sometimes it can be done smoothly; sometimes there are hiccups.  Sometimes things go awry and take time to put right.”

The comments from Harris come days after Joe Biden exited a press conference early after being challenged on Afghanistan by reporters.

  1. It’s funny…

        The Jackass and Buffoon Team….
        OUR President and Vice President.
        God HELP Us!!!

  2. What we have here is a weak President leading a weak administration. Regardless of your party preference, our country needs to realize that the withdrawal has forever damaged our credibility for all time and that the United States has again engaged in cut and run. The Taliban is now dictating the withdrawl timeline rather than we making it clear that serious consequences await those groups who impede us. The frightening fact remains that should Biden leave office, Commula Harris is next in line (more incompetent than Joe), and followed by Nancy Pelosi! God help our country if this is the outcome.
