Bernie Sanders wants the federal minimum wage to be $15 an hour. Many small businesses can not afford to pay employees $15 an hour, the people that own these businesses are not rich themselves and in no way are trying to cheat their employees out of money. A major consequence of the $15 minimum wage will be the hours a business is open, in areas where this minimum wage is in effect places do not open until 10 am and close around 7 pm, this is because the business can not afford to employ people for these long hours. In order to stay open longer, these businesses will likely increase prices to cope with the minimum wage increases.
