“The View” co-host Joy Behar on Thursday referenced presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s famous-deceased ancestors while criticizing him for running against President Joe Biden.

Kennedy is running as a third-party candidate and getting double digit support against Biden and former President Donald Trump. Behar suggested Kennedy’s deceased ancestors, which include former Democratic President John F. Kennedy and Democratic Sen. Robert Kennedy of New York, would be ashamed of him for running his campaign against a Democratic president.

“Someone has to ask him, ‘why are you doing this? Why do you want to destroy the election and hand it to Trump if possible?’ I mean, he’s a Kennedy. His forefathers are rolling over in their graves. His own family is telling him — we already have one clown in the race. Do we need two of ’em?” Behar asked. Behar received laughter and applause from the audience after her question.

“I think many times delusion has destroyed a country, and that’s what we’re dealing with here with this. The polls are too close … Biden is  slightly ahead … People are starting to focus and they’ll realize the danger that Trump poses. I believe that,” Behar said.

The Democratic National Committee and Biden’s reelection team are launching initiatives to combat third-party candidates, particularly Kennedy, who they view as threats to the president’s reelection.

Former Bill Clinton adviser Mark Penn on Thursday criticized the DNC for attacking third-party candidates instead of prioritizing Biden’s low approval ratings.

“If I were the DNC, I’d worry about that other four or five points that Biden is behind,” Penn said. “What is the campaign doing about the core issues, the poor job performance, inflation and immigration? Because by the time you get to the effective third-party candidates, who knows? He could shoot up like a firecracker and then explode like a firecracker and shoot right down. It’s really unpredictable. The one thing you know is that the job rating’s in the low 40s, he’s got issues to make up on. And that’s what they should be focusing on. They pissed RFK off.”

Kennedy is polling better than any independent candidates since 1992, Axios reported. Kennedy’s family has criticized his presidential campaign, the White House emphasized to the outlet.
