Samuel Brown, a retired Army captain, is gearing up for his second bid to secure a seat in the United States Senate, aiming to unseat Jacky Rosen, a vulnerable Nevada Democrat. He earned a Purple Heart for enduring severe injuries resulting from an IED explosion during his deployment in Afghanistan back in 2008. Brown’s remarkable resilience in the face of adversity and his unwavering commitment to serving others position him as an inspiring and dedicated leader, ready to effectively represent the people of Nevada.
In 2022, Brown launched a campaign to challenge Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. Although he was not successful, his efforts gained recognition and support within the Republican community. This time around, he enjoys the backing of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and is considered a prominent contender for the party’s nomination, making him a formidable opponent for Rosen.
Brown’s campaign revolves around addressing the concerns of Nevadans who are worried about the erosion of the American dream. He recognizes the challenges posed by rising inflation and economic instability, understanding the urgent need for a champion who will advocate for their interests in the nation’s capital—an essential role he is eager to undertake. Born in Arkansas, Brown hails from a military family, with his father and two younger brothers also serving in the War on Terror following September 11. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 2006. Additionally, he holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
After completing training from various Army schools, Brown joined the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. In 2008, he was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he and his soldiers suffered injuries from an improvised explosive device while responding to an ambush. Brown endured burns covering thirty percent of his body and lost his left index finger. His recovery involved experimental pain management methods, including virtual reality therapy. He retired as a Captain from the U.S. Army in 2011. In 2012, he returned to Afghanistan to inspire deployed troops and ensure a proper exit.
Given his military background, Brown has developed a deep-seated commitment to mission and people, qualities he believes are lacking in present-day politicians in Washington D.C. He pledges to uphold this ethos in the Senate, representing the people of Nevada and working towards their pursuit of fulfilling lives and the realization of the American dream.
