Comedian Al Franken ran against incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman in the 2008 Minnesota Senate Election. Coleman won on election night by a few hundred votes, but during a state-mandated recount hundreds of ballots were mysteriously found in the trunk of a car in deep blue Minneapolis.
Franken prevailed after a five month legal battle.
